Sir Richard de Bingham Chapel is known as the Provincial Officers Chapel where ritual is practiced, ideas refined and ceremonies performed within the framework of the official ritual and rubrick, ultimately to ensure our ceremonies are performed to the highest standards and as an example to other Chapels to emulate

Previously we had performed a shortened Installation ceremony, but on review it was felt that the full ceremony conveyed the importance of the Installation, so last night that’s exactly what happened

The Chapel was opened in antient form by the Eminent Prior Sir David of Repton and the Worthy Master Sir Allan of Hamersmyth

The Chapel was honoured by the presence of Sir Andrew of Ghellinge, the Rt Worthy Grand Preceptor, the Rt Eminent Provincial Grand Prior Sir David of Mufulira and Sir James of Tilchestune, the Past Rt W Grand Preceptor and recipient of the Grand Masters Award

The new Worthy Master was announced but despite trying to leave the Chapel he was strongly opposed by the Doorkeeper Sir Steven of Wirksworth KH and dragged back into the Chapel by the Marshal Sir Stephen of Risley and the Deputy Marshal Sir Michael of Ravenstone

The 15 Sir Knights present all played their parts, making it a very smooth ceremony

Sir Paul of Ollerton was invested as the new Worthy Master by Sir Allan and placed into the chair of the Chapel

Sir Paul then invested the new Eminent Prior, Sir Richard of Rearsby, and placed him in the Eminent Prior’s Chair

The officers of the Chapel were then appointed and invested, including a very distinguished Sir Knight, Sir Steven of Wirksworth KH, the Grand Marshal, who assisted the Chapel by taking the officer position of Cellarer

All in all a very smooth and enjoyable ceremony

Although the Sir Richard de Bingham Chapel No 49 is a Chapel whose members are all Provincial Officers, all Sir Knights irrespective of rank can attend as Visitors and benefit from the learning and exemplar activities of the Chapel.
